Chile Shenanigans

The past two weeks, I visited my parents in Santiago, Chile where they are pastors to a Chinese church located in downtown Santiago. It was such a privilege to meet and hear stories from their church members and to see their heart and hunger in seeking Jesus. I had the honor of sharing a special message on my personal experience at YWAM Taipei doing their Discipleship Training School and the importance of missions.

I encouraged each of them to do their part in bringing the gospel to the nations by sharing God’s love and His truth to their friends and family members when they go back to their home towns.

My parents prayed over me before the message and officially added me onto their list of supporting missionaries. Their church will support me through prayer and continue to take part in bringing the gospel to the 1040 window!

I also visited the YWAM base in Chile. It is so vastly different from the base in Taipei. Seated on 16 acres of land and beautiful wide open spaces, it was so peaceful there. Especially as my mom and I chatted with the director of the base regarding local ministry opportunities, we could hear faintly behind us in one of the rooms, the sounds of 20-30 students worshipping and interceding over each other. It was amazing to see our family in Christ in Chile worshipping Him! The director had also told my mom (he spoke in spanish so I had to wait for translation), the base in Chile intercedes often for North Korea, China, and the 1040 window. YWAM across the nations are praying for the countries in the 1040 window. PTL!

This time, coming back from Chile, I had very different thoughts as I have had in the past. To be honest, I never really liked going to Santiago that much because the pace of life is a lot slower and I can’t ever seem to find anything to do. I prefer the busy fast paced lifestyle of Taiwan but this time, before going to Chile, my heart had been changed because I saw everything not with my own eyes but with His. I heard stories from my parent’s church members and saw their hunger for Jesus. It really moved my heart to reach more Asian nations for the gospel. The desire that they have in their hearts for Him is undeniable and just doing Bible study and eating meals with them, the more my heart wanted to say YES to sharing more of the gospel in Asian countries. I could see a change in their lives, the joy they now have – and it’s all because of Him. The one and only.

I’ve almost reached my fundraising goal for the School of Biblical Studies in YWAM Taipei! If you’d like to donate to the cause, please go here: Jennifer’s GoFundMe
